The various periods of aboriginal history do not always match up between different peoples across the country. Many of the nations which occupy lands today are not the original peoples who migrated across the Bering Straits and firt settled in those areas. These fluxuations and changes took place over thousands of years. The first European contact with aboriginal peoples may have occured around 1000 A.D. as in Newfoundland and others may not have taken place until teh 1790's or later.
